His first big hit "Gun Court" was recorded at the age of 15 for the legendary producer Clement Coxsone Dodd on the Bongo Man label (Sub. of Studio One) under the name of Little Joe.

He later changed his name to Ranking Joe and went to work on U-Roy's very own King Stur-Gav Hi-Fi as a Deejay. His reputation of fast tongue twisting style won him the "DJ of The Year" title in 1977.
He recorded hits such as "Leave Fe Me Girl Arleen", "A You Mr. Finigan", & "Shine Eye Girl" to name a few.

Eventually, he started his own label "Ranking Joe" out of New York where he curently lives.
