THE GORGON

Cornell Campbell born in 1948 in Kingston, Jamaica has to be
one of the most underated artists in Reggae history.
Started recording ska tunes for Studio One in 1964 both solo
and as part of a duo with Alan Martin. In 1967 he was a member
of a short lived popular rocksteady vocal group along with
Slim Smith called The Uniques. Then in 1969 Cornell lead
his own group, The Eternals, back at Studio One to record
hits like Stars & Queen Of The Minstrels. Eventually
building a strong relationship with producer Bunny Lee and
launching hits on the Gorgon label, Cornell Campbell better
known as the Gorgon (The Ruler), was only second to Johnny CLarke.
Murderous hits like Trick In The Book, The Gorgon, Natural Fact,
Dread Ina Greenwhich Farm, and Boxing to name a few makes of
the Gorgon a true hitmaker and with a 40+ years singing
career he sounds better than ever.
