DA ORIGINAL BANTON
Donovan Spalding better known as Burro Banton was born in Kingston , Jamaica in 1956. he emerged in the middle of the dancehall era (mid 80's) with a unique deep and ruff vocal Deejay style. His early influence was looking up to Ranking Joe deejay, eventually moving on to deejay himself on the Gemini Hi Fi Sound in 1982. but Burro has seen the light with many famous sound systems of the era : Volcano, Killamanjaro, Stereo Mars, and shared the mic with artists like Super Cat, Nicodemus, Cutty Ranks amongst others.
He has to date only 2 LPs. The first one launched in 1985 by Henry Junjo Lawes titled “Buro” and his second LP was launched by Massive B's Bobby Konders only in 1996 : “Da Original Banton”. Burro's biggest tunes are Jah Jah Rules, Bible Again, Boom Wah Dis, Ya Dun Know, and Westmoreland Sensi.
